The Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club (PVRC) is a rowing facility in the North End of Springfield with the mission to promote river-based sporting activities, to develop river access, and encourage recreation in the Greater Springfield metropolitan area. PVRC will serve as point of access to the river for human powered craft, located within easy walking and bike-riding distance of downtown Springfield. PVRC Rowing Revival.
Rowing on the Connecticut River
PVRC offers programs for youth, and adults age 12-99. The primary programs we offer are adult sculling, high school age competitive rowing and learn to row lessons. We also host a unique program oriented towards teen parents. Our rowing efforts focus on instruction, physical fitness, education and stewardship of the Connecticut River. The PVRC programs incorporate a 'cooperative flavor' as experienced rowers provide mentorship and guidance to the less experienced.

Youth Indoor Training
January 7 - February 16
6 Week Youth Fitness Program!
Rowing is a full body, low impact workout that is great for beginners all the way up to the trained athlete. This program is designed to teach the basics of rowing and introduce youth the the benefits of team training. Classes will teach teens how to row on the the indoor rowing machines (ergs), build strength, and core stabilization. Participants will also participate in an introduction to water safety.
- No swimming or rowing experience necessary.
- Open to age 12 - 19 (Youth must be enrolled in school or attending a GED program)
- Changing area and bathrooms available. Shower facilities are under construction.
- Community programs available for adults & teens
- We really heat up during classes! The room is kept cool so please dress in multiple layers of appropriate workout attire.
- Bring your own water bottle and towel.
- Participants can chose to train for indoor racing if interested.
Youth Spring Season (Ages 15-19)
March 18 - June 1
Monday - Friday 3:45-5:45pm
Eleven week competitive youth program focusing on fitness and team building. Practice will start inside on the rowing machines and move to water practices as weather & river allow. Open to youth in the Greater Springfield area age 15-19. The group will be separated into experienced novice and new novice squads at first and will be merged into one team by the end of the season. No rowing experience necessary.
